उन्होंने विज्ञान, साम्यवाद और पूँजीवाद के समन्वय के विकल्प पर बहुत विचार किया है। वे खुद प्रगतिशिल थे, लेकिन आनंद मार्गियों अनुसार पश्चिम बंगाल में उनके आंदोलन को कुचलने के लिए वामपंथियों ने आनंद मार्गियों को कई तरह से प्रताड़ित किया जो सिलसिला आज तक जारी है। ओशो के बाद आनंदमूर्ति सर्वाधिक विवादित पुरुष माने जाते हैं।<br />

आनंदमूर्ति का जन्म 1921 और मृत्यु 1990 में हुई थी। मुंगेर जिले के जमालपुर में एशिया का सबसे पुराना रेल कारखाना है। वे रेलवे के एक कर्मचारी थे। यह जमालपुरा आनंद मार्गियों के लिए मक्का के समान है। यहीं पर सन् 1955 में आनंद मार्ग की स्थापना हुई थी।<br />
